Lauren Ventura  Â·  Founder, DoItWrite

Lauren was a reporter first. It still shows in the work.

Lauren Ventura is a content strategist and writer in San Diego. She runs DoItWrite, a small studio that helps brands explain complicated things clearly, from AI research and VR games to pet food packaging and fresh produce.

The story

01  /  NewsroomWhere it started

She learned to write by asking questions.

Lauren's first bylines were in journalism. Her reporting earned awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the California College Media Association, and she went on to write and edit for endurance sports magazines, including Inside Triathlon.

Reporting gave her habits she still uses every day. Talk to the people who know. Check every fact. Find the one detail that makes a reader care. File on time.

02  /  Brand sideRetail and packaging

Then she learned how words sell.

At Road Runner Sports she started with little advertising experience and rose to senior copywriter. That is where she learned how a brand voice is built, one product description at a time.

At Petco she named products and wrote packaging for nine private brands. She also created the voice and tone for two new ones, You & Me and Imagitarium. Packaging from that in-house team was recognized at the Vertex Awards, the international private brand design competition.

03  /  Classroom and startups2015 to 2025

She taught it, and she scaled it.

From 2018 to 2021 Lauren taught UX content strategy and long-form copywriting at UC San Diego Extension. Teaching keeps her honest. If she can't explain a framework to a room of working marketers, it isn't ready for a client.

In the same years she moved from writer to marketing lead. She ran the blog at a UX agency, managed product marketing at LeaseLabs, and built the webinar and video programs at Leadfeeder, a SaaS startup in Helsinki. Later she managed digital marketing at NatureSweet, directed global marketing at NowVertical Group, and led web and content strategy at Off Base Productions.

04  /  The studio2008 to today

DoItWrite is where it all comes together.

The studio started in 2008 as Lauren's freelance writing practice, and clients along the way have included Petco, Volcom, and Arctic Zero. Today it's where she brings the reporter, the teacher, and the marketing lead to one project at a time.

How she works

  • She reports before she writes.

Every project starts with interviews and source material. Lauren talks to your engineers, researchers, and product people, because the best lines are usually already in the room.

  • Plain language is a feature.

If a smart reader outside your field can't follow it, it isn't finished. Clear writing is how expert work earns a wider audience.

  • Strategy you can use on Monday.

She leaves teams with tools they can run on their own: a style guide, a messaging matrix, an editorial calendar, a content model for the website.

  • She measures what she makes.

Lauren is certified in Adobe Analytics. Goals are agreed before anything ships, and she reports back on what happened in plain numbers.

  • Small on purpose.

You work with Lauren directly, from the first call to the final file. When a project needs design, video, or development, she brings in partners she trusts.

  • Accuracy is part of the brand.

She fact-checks, cites sources, and routes approvals carefully. That matters most when the subject is research, regulated products, or someone else's reputation.

A good fit

DoItWrite is a good fit if

  • You have something complex to explain: research, a technical product, or a new category.
  • You want one senior person who can plan it, write it, and ship it.
  • You care about getting the facts right as much as getting attention.
  • You want your team to be stronger after the project, not dependent on it.

Probably not the right call if

  • You need a large agency team on site.
  • You need high volumes of content at the lowest possible cost.
  • You want copy written without access to the people who know the subject.
